There was a mighty pole in the cave, green wood of the olive tree.
洞穴里有一根巨大的柱子，是绿色的橄榄树木。
Of this Ulysses cut off a piece, sharpened it, hardened it in the fire, and hid it away. At evening the giant came back,
尤利西斯切断了一根，将它削尖，用火将它变坚硬，将它藏起来，晚上巨人回来了，
and, having done his work, feasted as before. Then Ulysses came forward with the wine-skin,

and said, Drink, Polyphemus, and see what precious things we had on our ship.
说到喝吧，波吕斐摩斯，看看我们从船上带来的珍贵物品。
The giant drank and was pleased; he said, Give me again to drink, and tell me your name. I will give you a gift such as a host should give his guest.
巨人喝下后很高兴，说道让我再喝一些，然后告诉我你的名字，我将给你一样礼物，就像主人给客人一样。
Ulysses gave him the cup and he drank. Thrice he gave it to him, and the giant drank, not knowing how it would work upon him.
尤利西斯给了他杯子，他喝了起来，他给了他三次，巨人都喝下了，不知道这种酒会给他带来什么。
Then Ulysses said, You asked my name, Polyphemus. My name is No Man. Now I ask you for the gift.
之后尤利西斯说，你问我的名字，波吕斐摩斯，我叫“无人”，我现在找你要礼物。
The giant answered, My gift shall be that I will eat you last of all.
巨人回答道，我的礼物就是最后吃掉你。
Then he fell into a drunken sleep, and Ulysses bade his comrades be of good cheer.
之后他就因为饮酒而睡了过去，尤利西斯吩咐他的兄弟们不要垂头丧气。
Quickly they thrust the stake of wood into the fire until it was ready to burst into flame.
他们马上将木头放入火上，直到它们可以变成大火。
With it they put out the monster's eye, for he had but one eye, which was in the middle of his forehead.
他们用燃烧的木头抠出了巨人的眼睛，他只有一只眼睛，就在额头正中央。
The giant leaped and cried aloud with pain, so that other Cyclops heard him and came about the cave asking him,
巨人跳了起来，并痛苦地大叫，其它独眼巨人听到了他，来到洞穴询问他的情况，
What ails you, Polyphemus? Is anyone robbing you or seeking to slay you?
波吕斐摩斯，你遇到了什么麻烦？是有人抢劫还是试图杀死你？
And the giant answered, No Man slays me by craft. If no man hurts you, we cannot help you, said the others, and went away.
巨人回答道，“无人”用诡计杀我，如果没人伤害你，我们无法帮助你，其他人说道，并走开了。
