A crater is a big hole in the ground.
火山口就是地面上的大洞。
Volcanic activity can make craters.
火山活动会形成火山口。
After a volcano erupts, we see a huge hole on the top of the volcano.
火山喷发后，火山顶上会有个大洞。
If there is no volcanic activity for a long time, snow and rainfall stays inside the hole.

Then the hole becomes a huge lake.
