1、Are you shopping for some art to match your furniture?match：它的第一个意思是“对手”，比如：I am no match for her when it comes to language. 在语言能力方面我根本不是她的对手。相应的动词含有则是“较量”。第二个意思是“火柴”，比如：The smoker tossed away the lighted match and so caused a fire. 那个抽烟的人随手扔掉火柴棒，引起了一场火灾。第三个意思是“比赛”，比如the cricket match就是指“棒球比赛”。最后一个意思是“配偶”或“般配的人”，比如：He anxiously desired to have his niece married, to make for her a suitable match. 他非常想把他内侄女嫁出去，给他找个门当户对的配偶。 取这个意思的时候它相应的动词含义是“相配”。

2、match、fit与suit的区分：fit与suit可指衣服“合适”或“适合”的意思。不同的是，fit 指大小、尺寸合体，如：The coat fits me well. 这件上衣我穿着很合身。而suit是指颜色，花样或款式适合。比如：The colour of the cloth suits a woman at my wife's age. 这布的颜色适合我妻子年龄的妇女穿。match多指大小、色调、形状、性质等方面的搭配。着重强调的是搭配。举个例子：The People‘s Great Hall and the Historical Museum match the Tian An Men beautifully. 人民大会堂和历史博物馆与天安门陪衬得极为优美。

3、Cause we're awesome.因为我们很棒。awesome这里是指“很了不起的，很棒的，精彩的”，再举一个例子：The sunrise on the sea is an awesome sight. 海上日出的景色令人叹为观止。awesome还可以表示“可怕的”，比如：An awesome thunderstorm struck the city yesterday. 昨天,一场可怕的暴风雨侵袭了这个城市。用于人awesome可以指“表示敬畏的”。比如：The archaeologist stood in awesome silence before the ancient ruins. 那名考古学家在古代遗址前充满敬畏地默立着。

7、In your dreams是个俚语，表示“休想，不可能，做白日梦”。别人要你干一件你不愿意做的事情，你也可以说No way. Never. In your dreams.不可能的。你休想。别做梦了。我们还可以说not on your life，要注意介词是on，而不是in。Will I stand for such a thing? Not on your life!我能忍受这种事情吗？这辈子都别想！No way：没门。

8、Well, you are in my dreams, Lily, and one in particular recurs...你是在我梦里啊，Lily。还反覆出现……recur是“重现”的意思，比如：The theme recurs several times throughout the book.这一主题在整部书里出现了好几次。还可以表示“疾病复发”，比如：If the pain recurs, take this medicine.如果病痛复发，就服这种药。
