However, Cui Dalin, deputy chef de mission for the Chinese team says Chinese athletes are entering competition in events where they don't have a clear advantage -- like track and field, wrestling, boxing and team events.
Cui Dalin, Deputy Head of Chinese Sports Delegation, said "A great many of China's strongest events were in the first half, so we took the lead in gold medals. Generally speaking, Chinese athletes are not strong contenders in many events in the second half of the Games. With events like track and field starting, China's pace in winning gold medals will slow down."
