The first group of Chinese People's Liberation Army soldiers that has wrapped up work in relief operations has now completed its withdrawal from the quake-hit Sichuan Province. The 40,000 soldiers are expected to resume life in the barracks as soon as they return to their service stations.

This group began to leave over a week ago traveling to their destinations by train, bus and plane. The PLA has sent a work group to Chengdu, the provincial capital, to coordinate the withdrawal.
More than 80,000 PLA troops and armed police will remain in the quake zone to help with relief and reconstruction until further orders.
