China's new generation supersonic training plane has made a successful debut in a test flight in Nanchang, capital of the eastern province of Jiangxi.
China's new generation supersonic training plane has made a successful debut in a test flight in Nanchang.
The plane, called Falcon Number Three, can take off on a runway just 400 meters long. Aviators tested each function of the plane at different altitudes. After 16 minutes of flying, the plane was given the all clear.
Wu Fanghui, president of Hongdu Aviation Industry Group, said, "The successful debut flight of the Falcon Number Three means China has become a leading country in producing training planes."
The plane uses the most advanced air technology.
Chief designer of Falcon No. 3 Zhang Hong said, "The specially-designed wings offer superior aerodynamics, giving the plane excellent mobility. "
The plane has two engines that are controlled by a computer.
Zhang Hong said, "When the pilot pushes the throttle, an electronic signal will be sent to the computer for analysis. Further orders will be issued by the computer to the throttle to provide enough power for the plane. It is the first time that this technology has been used on a training plane."
The plane researchers will develop more functions for Falcon Number three before putting it into production. Many countries have shown interest in the plane.
