149.不好欺负
Little boys have a way of making free with other children.
小男孩都知道怎样随意欺负别的孩子。
They make demands on smaller children to pay for their lunches, buy them candy, or simply give them their money.
他们要求小一些的孩子替他们付午饭钱，给他们买糖果，或者干脆给他们钱。
When this happens the smaller children have to depend on their own friends to make ends meet--it's better than being beat up!
发生这种事时，小一点儿的孩子得靠他们自己的朋友勉强挺过去一这比被毒打一顿好多了！
Little Joey didn't go along with the bullies.
小乔伊却不买这些恃强欺弱者的账。
He even made light of them and their attempts at extortion!
他甚至轻视他们，对他们的敲诈要求不予理睬！
He made as if he was powerful--and this bothered the bullies.
他仿佛一副神圣不可侵犯的样子一而这使那伙流氓很恼火。
They couldn't make head or tail of Little Joey.
他们无法了解小乔伊。
It didn't matter, however, they just made arrangements to beat him up after school one day!
可这没关系，他们做好了准备，哪天放学后揍他一顿！
When they all met, Little Joe astounded them again by making fun of the bullies!
当他们狭路相逢时，小乔伊再次让他们吃了一惊：他居然敢取笑那伙流氓！
Was this kid living in a make believe world that he didn't think there would be consequences?

Well, they didn't like being made little of so they stepped in to hit him as hard as they could!
可是， 他们不喜欢被人小瞧，于是走进去准备给他一顿狠揍！
They should have made certain that Little Joey was a weakling.
他们应该弄清楚小乔伊不是那么好欺负的！
The bullies didn't make it On the contrary, they were all lying on the ground bleeding.
流氓们没有得手。相反，他们却一个个躺在地上浑身流血。
Little Joey had a black belt in Tae Kwon Do!
原来小乔伊是跆拳道黑腰带级髙手！
After that all of the little children made friends with Little Joey
从那以后，所有小孩都对小乔伊变得友好起来，
and he made good on his promise to keep the bullies from picking on them again.
而他则履行诺言不让那些流氓再欺负他们。
Soon the bullies had to make do with bullying each other for lunch money, candy and other things...
不久那些流氓们只好将就着互相斗狠，互相给午饭钱、买糖果和其他东西……
