To one extend or another, we are all fans of horror movies. Even if some are sensitive enough to close their eyes at the most terrifying scenes; even though others will not sleep for several nights after seeing it…horror movies are fascinating the world and thus, they will always be in trend. These are the top 10 scary films of all time:
10.Night of the Living Dead – 1968
This is the best zombie movie made so far and it gave birth to a trend that would last up to this day. The many zombie movies we have seen (of which some are actually good) cannot however compare with the first –one of those scary movies which are meant to remain stock somewhere in your mind for many years.
9.The Texas Chainsaw massacre – 1974
This movie was followed by many sequels- the last produced in 2003- which says a lot about the success of the first movie. This picture is awful and awesome in the same time and truly belongs to the list of scary movies. It may be described best in one word only "sadistic" as its disturbing scenes of extreme violence were shocking for most of its viewers- especially for the 1974 viewers who were not yet ready for this kind of movies.
8.Rosemary's baby – 1968
Roman Polansky's movie is a must for any horror movies enthusiast who hasn't seen it yet. This is the crazy story of a young couple who moves into a new apartment building which turns out to be a bad decision: their seemingly nice neighbors turn out to be actually evil and Rosemary starts having nightmares, and all kinds of unusual feelings, while her husband become distant and seems to spend more and more time with the creepy neighbors. When she gets pregnant, it becomes obvious that the trio has plans for her baby.
7.Bride of Frankenstein – 1935
This sequel called "Bride of Frankenstein" is as good as its original (Frankenstein) which cannot be said of the most sequels, which usually lack imagination. In this scary movie, Frankenstein convinces his master (who turns out to be alive even though it was believed to be dead at the end of the first movie) to create him a mate- a lady Frankenstein. The female is created from the skeletons of two women and from the beating heart of living girl.
6.The Shining – 1980
The Shining is Stephen King's masterpiece, one of the best horror novels ever. Thus, the adaptation with the same name could not be anything else than a very creepy movie, and in this happy case, it turned out to be a great one too. Jack Nicholson plays the role of a rehabilitated alcoholic author, father of a psychic 6-year old boy, who agrees to spend a winter in isolation at a remote hotel, up in the mountains. After the winter sets in, there is no one in the hotel but the small family of three…and the evil ghosts who start torturing them…
