protect sb.from (doing) sth.表示“保护某人不受……；使某人避开……”，例如：
You should protect the children from catching cold.
你应该防备孩子们受凉
Use an umbrella to protect yourself from the rain.
带把伞遮雨。
另外，protect 还可与against搭配，表示“保护，保卫”的意思，例如：
We protected him against his enemy.
我们保护他使他不受敌人侵犯。
These tree belts effectively protect the farmland against shifting sand.
这些防护林带有效地保护了农田，使之免受流沙侵袭。
