BEIJING -- The national average temperature in China this summer reached 22 degrees Celsius, the highest since 1961, with 55 weather monitoring stations posting record high daily temperatures, a meteorological official said on Monday.

北京消息，一名气象局官员周一表示，今年夏季（6-8月）全国平均气温22.0℃，为1961年来最高，全国共有55个气象监测站日最高气温突破历史极值。

中国气象局（China Meteorological Administration）新闻发言人张祖强表示，今年夏季，我国平均气温较常年（normal years）同期偏高1℃（one degree higher）。
此番夏季高温（summer high temperatures）具有极端性强、范围广(cover more area)、时间长（last longer）等特点。
8月全国平均气温22.2℃（degrees Celsius），较常年同期（21.0℃）偏高1.2℃，为历史同期第四高。
全国有93个气象站（weather stations）发生极端高温（extreme high temperatures）事件，主要出现在吉林、辽宁、内蒙古、四川、湖北、山东等省（区、市）。
长江中下游流域（the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River）的持续高温（lingering high temperatures）对农作物的生长产生了不利影响（detrimental to the growth of crops）。
