Special Mention

The most characteristic of Wulingyuan is the pillars and peaks.Altogether there are 3 103 peaks about 500一100m to hundreds of meters above sea level ，with the height ranging from scores to hundreds of meters,in shapes of a man an immortal，a bird，an animal，or a certain object.

The limestone caves are mainly on the north bank of Suoxi Valley and eastern Emperor Mountain. There are dozens of them，while the most brilliant is Yellow Dragon Cave，honored as the“Treasure House of Speleology".

The sand veins in the Devon stratum of Echoing Wall and the wavy traces on the rocks by Jumping Fish Pond are precious geological remains，and they are the rare evidences in the study of ancient environment and geological transformation,in addition to their aesthetic value. The coral fossils found in the Permian stratum at Emperor Mountain have vein patterns like that of a turtle，thus called“turtle vein stone"，which are qualified material for various handicraft carvings.
