48-hour truce reached between gov't, rebels in Syria
叙利亚政府与叛军达成短暂停火
A 48-hour ceasefire has been agreed to between Syrian insurgents, the army and the Lebanese Hezbollah group in two hotspots in northwest Syria and near the Lebanese border, according to Lebanon's Al-Manar TV. The station reported that the temporary truce is due to start on Wednesday at 6 a.m local time. It will bring a simultaneous 48-hour ceasefire in the city of Zabadani, northwest of the capital Damascus, and the besieged Shi'ite towns of Kafraya and Foa in the countryside of the northwestern Idlib province.
The deal was reached after the Syrian army and Hezbollah advanced into the central part of Zabadani, the last rebel bastion on the Syrian-Lebanese border. Negotiations between the rival sides will continue on two main issues: government-secured buses for rebels from the Ahrar al-Sham group to leave Zabadani, in exchange for the rebels in Idlib to allow the entry of food and aid convoys to the besieged Shiite towns.
