Torrential rains cause flooding, property loss in China
南方多省份遭遇暴雨袭击
Torrential rains continue to hit various parts of China, causing severe floods and property losses.
The southern provinces of China have been battered by heavy rain over the last few weeks, with many of them enduring the wettest May for 40 years, according to China's National Meteorological Center.
China's Ministry of Civil Affairs reported that the affected areas are Anhui, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hunan and Guizhou provinces. Days of downpour also destroyed scenic spots and rows in crop fields, and blocked roads in Hunan's Huaihua and Shaoyang cities.
Authorities in Hunan are closely monitoring the amount of water released by reservoirs, to ensure public safety.
