World's largest ice rink opens in Russian capital
俄罗斯首都世界最大溜冰场开放
This winter, Moscow is the destination of choice for ice skaters of every level. Boasting a special lovers’ alley, a playground, a hockey rink and a large open skating space, the ice complex is the largest in the world.
Pavel is a break dancer as well as a skater.
He’s trying to create a fusion of the two on the ice.
"I try to get a session between 10 and 14 o’clock when there are fewer people here and there is space to skate, by five in the evening there are big queues," said Pavel Pyatkov, trick skater.
He’s attempting this at Moscow’s largest ice rink, which, at more than 20,000 square metres in size, is also the world’s largest.
Lessons are on offer, but as one of our filming attempts shows, it’s not always as easy as it looks.
So we skated round again.
Set in the grounds of Moscow’s old Soviet All Russian exhibition centre, the new ice rink is served by a number of cafes and skate sharpening stations.
