UK outvoted in EU president ballot
英国反对欧委会主席提名

pJTD*--du&D3Rf,

Security on high alert as the most powerful men in Europe arrive in Brussels. They were here to choose the new European Commission president. And with 26-2 in favour for Jean Claude Juncker, it was a resounding victory for the former Luxembourg prime minister. British Prime Minister, David Cameron was vocally opposed to Juncker's nomination. He sees Juncker is a figure uninterested in EU reform.

Poroshenko is under pressure from the West to extend the existing ceasefire, but Ukrainian forces worry that it will give the separatists time to regroup. They also point several breaches of the ceasefire, including the downing of a helicopter on Tuesday. Putin also sought to reframe the dialogue, which he says misses the mark.

Benghazi suspect brought to federal court in DC
班加西袭击嫌疑人被带往联邦法庭

YN.YOI,=TMd;9yR#m

The man alleged to be the mastermind of the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi was brought to this federal courthouse Saturday morning in Washington D.C. The U.S. attorney's office in Washington said Ahmed Abu Khattala is now in federal custody. He's the Libyan militia leader suspected in the attack that killed four Americans including Ambassador Chris Stevens. He was brought to the courthouse from on board the amphibious transport ship, the USS New York. That's where he'd been held since his capture by U.S. special operations forces outside Benghazi on June 15. The criminal complaint against Khattala from the U.S. Justice Department accuses him of killing one person in an attack on a federal facility, and providing material support to terrorists "resulting in death." The charges were filed in July of 2013 but kept under a court seal until this month. Khattala will likely be prosecuted in the U.S. criminal justice system. That's in line with President Barack Obama's policy of prosecuting suspected militants captured overseas through the U.S. justice system, rather than trying them in the military tribunal system at Guantanamo Bay Prison, which he's trying to shut down. The U.S. attorney's office would not say where Khattala being held.
