Thousands celebrate Summer Solstice with yoga in Times Square

Amid the hustle and bustle of New York's Times Square, thousands of yogis try to unwind. The Times Square Alliance held free, so-called "mind over madness" classes Saturday to mark the Summer Solstice. Co-founder of the event, Douglass Stewart, said doing yoga in the middle of Manhattan is a unique experience.

South Korean soldier kills five, injures seven near North Korean border

Military officers carry out security checks near a remote South Korean border outpost. These soldiers are looking for one of their own. A conscript who's gone on the run after killing five of his fellow unit members, and injuring seven others. Authorities have so far given few details about the incident, but they say they believe the soldier is armed with firearms and grenades.

All able-bodied South Korean men must serve about two years under a conscription system, aimed at deterring aggression by North Korea. Though infrequent, there have been previous cases of soldiers, who have been under stress, opening fire on other unit members.

Lawmakers square off over Obama's Iraq policy

As civil war rages in Iraq, U.S. lawmakers are debating what plan of action to take. Radical militants called I-S-I-L -- also known as ISIS -- are fighting government forces in the north. Obama announced Thursday he would send military advisers to the country. But he ruled out U.S. troops on the ground. He has also held off on granting Baghdad's request for air strikes. Speaking on Face the Nation Sunday, President Obama defended his position.
