Putin worries Ukraine crisis 'a new stage of Cold War'
普京担忧乌危机为冷战新阶段
Russian President Vladimir Putin told Europe No.1 television that Russia has never done anything to hurt peace and stability in Ukraine. Putin said he hopes the Ukraine crisis does not start of 'a new stage of the Cold War'.
In the interview, Putin said Ukrainian authorities should talk directly with Ukrainians. Both Putin and the US president Barack Obama will attend a ceremony commemorating the 70th anniverasary of D-Day Landing in France’s Normandy on Friday.
Putin said he would not refuse to hold talks with Obama, suggesting such a meeting is up to the US president. Putin also said the US is following an "aggressive" military policy with military bases around the world, while Russia has few military forces overseas. Putin complained that the US frequently interferes with the internal affairs of other nations and it has no rights to blame Russia for the crisis in Ukraine.
