A fierce forehand in the hot conditions in Melbourne.
Li already a couple of games up and consolidating the break with another fine shot - a wrong footing backhand. Bencic,
coached by Martina Hingis’ mother won two junior Grand Slam titles last year but lost the first set in 22 minutes 6-love.
But Bencic would put up more of a challenge in the second set.
Li’s service broken twice but the set went to a tie break. The Wuhan’s native wealth of Grand Slam experience helped her to prevail 7-5.
She’ll play 26th seed Lucie Safarova on Friday’s in the third round for a place in the last 16.
"Pretty good. She played exactly like Martina Hingis, I feel. Yeah, it’s very tough to play a decent player I never see before because I cannot get any information. When comes to the court, it’s like, Okay, is similar like first round. It’s
like, Okay, Yeah, I think today she give me very tough time end of the second set. But I was really happy in the end I can use my experience to win the match." Li Na said.
