The 2014 World Cup draw has concluded in Brazil, listing all the national teams and their groups for the world’s biggest football tournament. A total of 32 teams will be split into eight groups, labelled A to H.
Group A includes hosts Brazil, Croatia, Mexico, and Cameroon. Reigning champions Spain will be in Group B, together with the Netherlands, Chile and Australia. England, Italy, Switzerland and Ecuador are in Group D. The United States will play Germany and Ghana in the first round of next year’s World Cup in Group G, facing the nations that eliminated the Americans from the last three tournaments.
The draw ceremony was televised live to more than 190 countries and regions from the beach resort of Costa do Sauipe. The lottery draw system has been used by the world soccer governing body FIFA for decades and was first televised in 1966.
