Thanksgiving travel season collides with wintry weather in U.S.
美国感恩节遭遇酷寒天气
As Thanksgiving approaches this week in the United States, a developing storm system is predicted to make its way up to New England, disrupting travel plans in this busy holiday season. The wintry weather has already left more than 100 wrecks in highways across the country and claimed at least 12 lives. Now, some flights have been cancelled, leaving travellers stranded.
It’s already walloped parts of Oklahoma and Arkansas and led to the cancellation of about a thousand flights in Dallas. With storms moving up and down the east coast, travelers are keeping a close eye on conditions.
"Thursday and Friday in Wisconsin and Saturday-Sunday here so we get two turkey dinners which is good for my mouth, not so good for my stomach."
The lowest gas prices since Thanksgiving 2010 are a pleasant surprise, but the top reasons for travel are the same as always.
"Family, food and football. It’s very simple."
Strong incentives to brave the elements and the crowds.
