"Japanese teenage women have grown increasingly violent in the last 20 years," a criminologist said yesterday.

The ratio of women in their teens inflicting bodily injury has risen to more than 20 per 100,000 of the total Japanese population.

"More than 7 times the level 20 years ago," said JinSuke Kageyama, a professor at the Tokyo Institute of Technology.
