Russia floods cause $3 billion losses

Russian President Vladimir Putin says the flooding caused by heavy rains has caused a loss of 100 billion roubles, or about 3 billion US dollars. He says the situation is under control, and has urged relief workers to make people’s well-being the priority.
800 million roubles will be distributed to flood victims. The government has declared a state of emergency in five regions in Russia's Far East.
The Amur region has been hardest hit. About 1,200 people have been evacuated and 32 residential area inundated. No casualties have been reported so far.
