Falkland Islanders Vote To Remain British

The people of the Falkland Islands have voted overwhlemingly to remain British - with only three chosing "No" in a referendum.

福克兰群岛选民在公投中以绝对压倒性选择继续归属英国海外领土。福克兰群岛共有2900个居民，有选民资格的共1672人。参加此次公投的多达1517人，占全部选民90%以上。投赞成继续归属英国的高达1513票，反对者仅有三票，一票弃权。此次公投是在阿根廷对福克兰群岛不断施加主权要求的压力下进行的，英阿两国曾于1982年围绕福克兰主权爆发战争。英国政府对公投结果表示欢迎，并敦促世界所有国家接受这一结果，支持福克兰岛民的自主选择。

长期以来，导致英国与阿根廷关系紧张的福克兰群岛（英语：Falkland Islands，西班牙语称：马尔维纳斯群岛Islas Malvinas）连续两天举行公投，由岛上居民决定是否要这个岛继续作为英国的海外自治领土。

They celebrated victory even though the result was this one-sided as in Argentina versus Falkand football match.It was never a question of what the outcome would be,just how big the margin.

And it sends such strong message to the international world that we've being here now for a long time.We have the right to determine our own future.

As the votes were counted,it was a case of spot the nose.There didn't seem to be any.Then after the count was completed,there was a delay as the calculators come out and the officials realize that one vote've gone missing.They decided it wasn't worth a recount.

The number of Yes votes cast was 1513,which represents 98.8%.

Actually the percentage was 99.8% in favor.Only three people swarm against patriotic tie which swept the Falkland in recent days.

People here were Italy that they really care how the Argentina government reacts this vote after they are used to be ignored by Buenos Aires.But they do hope the rest of Latin America will take the noice of referendum result.

It means the Falkland will continue to run its own affaires.But sheltered under the wing of motherland when it comes to defense and foreign policy.

Who the three people who vote against?

I don't know,if they fly away.I'll personally pay their flights.They can go that way next Saturday.

The Island's political leaders now feel they have a mandate and can work more confidently on the world stage.

We will be taking that message to every government say "Look,self-determination is a fundermental human right,you can't ignore it."This is what people of Falkland said,do you have a problem with that.

Independent election monitors confirmed the referendum was technically right with no interference.Just as important to the organizers on 92% turn out.It was clear the Falkland's speaks with almost one voice.
