【"Gangnam Style" rules 2012】"Gangnam Style"称霸YouTobe 点击量过十亿
No matter where on earth you live, there was no escaping "Gangnam Style" this year. The catchy tune danced its way onto charts all over the world, making its singer, Korean rapper Psy, an overnight sensation and household name.
The video for the song was viewed on YouTube more than 800 million times - making it the most viewed video on the site ever. Psy was everywhere: he danced on the carpet at MTV's Video Music Awards, met with U.N. Secretary-General, Ban Ki-moon, performed for U.S. President Barack Obama at a Christmas celebration, and taught Britney Spears his signature moves on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show."
His video also spawned a string of parodies. One of the most popular was made by some members of the U.S. Naval Academy, who basically re-created the entire video. And people around the world followed suit - from "Gangnam Style"-synched Christmas lights to cowboy-line dancing tributes, proving that in 2012, "Gangnam Style" was definitely in style.
【"Gangnam Style" reaches one billion hits】
Another milestone was reached for South Korean rapper Psy, whose global hit music video "Gangnam Style" reached one billion hits on YouTube. It's the first time any video has reached the ten digit hit count in the history of the website.
Eager fans could track the count in real time on billioncountdown.com. Last month Psy took away the crown for "most watched video on YouTube" from his record label mate Justin Bieber.
His infectious horse riding spawned countless parodies across the world and he had many galloping sessions with celebrities such as Britney Spears and U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. Recently the 34-year-old rapper performed for U.S. President Barack Obama at a Christmas celebration.
