【词义辨析】
1.keep，retain，reserve，preserve，conserve，withhold
keep: 最常用词，指长时间牢固地保持或保存。
retain: 指继续保持。
reserve: 正式用词，指为了将来的用途或其他用途而保存、保留。
preserve: 主要指为防止损害、变质等而保存。
conserve: 一般指保存自然资源，保全人的精力、力量等。
withhold: 指扣住不放，暗示有阻碍。
2.raise，keep，support，feed
raise: 意为“抚养（指人）；饲养（指动物或禽畜）”之意。
He raised the children himself；his wife died years ago.
他的妻子多年以前就去世了，他一手把孩子拉扯大。
He raised those goats from new-born kids.
那些羊从小羊羔时就是他喂养的。
keep: 表示“养活（指人）；饲养（指动物或禽畜）”。
John has his wife and six children to keep(support).
约翰要养活妻子和六个孩子。
They kept some hens and pigs.

support: 意为“养活”，不用于饲养动物。
She supports her old mother.

二.actually：adv. 实际上，事实上，竟然（表示惊讶）
【词语用法】
1.actually有时意为"说来奇怪，但竟然这样。
I actually saw him yesterday.
说来奇怪，我昨天竟然看见了他。
2.actually意为“真正地，事实上”，actual则是“真的，实际的”，他们可以被用来改错或者是解开误解。
The book says she died aged 47，but her actual age was 43。
‘Hello,John.Nice to meet you.’‘Actually,my name's Andy.’
3.他们也可以用actual来把事情表达得更清楚，精确，或者是提供意想不到的信息。
I've got a new job.Actually,they've made me sales manager.
4.actual与actually有时会被错误使用，与present, current,now等词的意思混淆。注意actual没有“当前的，现在的”等义。
In 1900 the population of London was higher than its now.
（NOT...than actually is）
5.英国人通常使用actually将坏消息断开来讲，
‘How did you get on with my car?'
