其实除了信用卡,credit这个词还有非常广泛的用途
Take credit for something: 抢别人的功劳

Credit card: 信用卡
与cash不同,它是可数名词。例如:I have several credit cards: 我有几张信用卡。
Buy something on credit: 用信用消费
Pay with/by credit card: 用信用卡支付
Put it on a credit card: 用信用卡付
这个说法native speakers常用,常含有其实超出了经济能力,但先刷卡、以后还的态度。
Credit card debts: 信用卡债、欠款
Credit card companies charge extremely high interest rates: 信用卡的透支利息特别高。
Pay off your credit card bill/debt as soon as possible: 越早还款越好。

Give credit to someone: 把功劳归给某人
I want to give (special) credit to Adam for his work on this project: 我想特别赞许Adam在这个项目上的贡献。
Take credit for something: “拿”功劳
常用于否定形式can't take credit for it,用于表达谦虚或者指不公平地抢了别人的功劳和荣誉。
I can't take full credit for it. It was a team effort: 不都是我的功劳,是整个团队的努力。
Give credit where credit is due: 把功劳归给应该归的人。
Deserve credit: 实至名归
She deserves credit for the team's victory: 团队的胜利主要是她的功劳。
没做事,但邀功
Take credit for someone else's work: 夺取别人的功劳、把应属于别人的功劳占为己有
My boss always takes credit for the employees' work: 我老板总是把员工的功劳占为己有。
Give credit to the wrong person: 功劳给错人
You must analyze the situation and avoid giving credit to the wrong person: 一定要分析情况,别把功劳给错人。
Get credit for: 得到表扬、认同
经常是没有功劳有苦劳、或者虽然结果不如预期,但也努力了的意思。
The outcome wasn't good, but you worked hard. You still get credit for your effort: 虽然最后结果不理想,但你努力了,所以还是值得表扬。
Be credited with: 归功于,有时指不一定实至名归
Thomas Edison is credited with inventing many things: 爱迪生被认为是很多东西的发明者。
