Shanghai has postponed the national college entrance examination to July.

The exams, known as Gaokao, will now be conducted from July 7to 9, a month behind the original schedule.

上海副市长在新闻发布会上讲到：

“After carefully assessingthe current situation amid the coronavirus outbreak, we've made the decision to defer the exams after receiving approval from the Ministry of Education." Shanghai Vice-Mayor Chen Qun said in a press briefing on Saturday.

In China, Gaokao is widely considered to be the most important entrance exam that can make a young person's future.It is also intended to help level the playing field between the country's rich, providing a chance for students from disadvantaged families to gain entry to a top university.It is believed that knowledge reshapes destiny / knowledge changes fate.

在中国，普遍认为高考是成就年轻人的起点。因为高考被认为是帮助寒门学子公平竞争的机会。因为知识改变命运。
