我们今天聊原滋原味的美语表述。首先，我们还是来回顾一下Nancy说的那番话：

You've got to be kidding. Ken is so much older than she is. He's robbing the cradle. Well, Debbie has always wanted a sugar daddy and now she's going to have one. I have to admit, they do seem crazy about each other. I mean, they'er always making out in public.

Nancy说到的sugar daddy是什么意思呢？A sugar daddy means a wealthy, usually older man who gives expensive gifts or money to someone much younger in return for companionship or sexual favors. 它是指：给与年轻人钱财以换取性关系陪伴的有钱的老男人。Would you like to have a sugar daddy? Anyway I don't want a sugar daddy . 我们来看下面的例句：

1. I know I shouldn't judge just from appearances, but it certainly seems like Tammy's new boyfriend is a bit of a sugar daddy. （我知道我不应该以貌取人，但是看上去Tammy的新男友有点像甜爸的样子。）

要点解析1：judge from appearances是“以貌取人”的意思。例如：Never judge from appearances.（人不可貌相。）

要点解析2：It seems like+从句表示“看起来好像........”的意思。Like 在这里是介词，后面接的从句是宾语从句。Like 后面还可以接动名词短语。例如：It seems like just yesterday we were taking bath together !（好像昨天我们还一起洗澡的。）It seems like I come to see people, not paintings .（我好像是来看人而不是来看画的。）It seems like making a great disturbance about nothing
particular.（看来好象是小题大作。）

2. When you tell him that he's a sugar daddy, he gets very angry. He says she isn't interested in his money, only in him.（当你告诉他，他是一个甜爸的时候，他就非常生气。他说她她感兴趣的是他这个人，而不是钱。）

要点解析：be interested in可以表示“对某物或某事感兴趣”，也可以表示“对某人感兴趣”。如果是对某人感兴趣，就是“爱某人，对某人有爱慕之感”的意思。例如：He seemed very interested in my sister.（他发疯似的爱着我妹妹。）Obviously he is interested in music as well as (in) painting.（显然他对音乐和绘画都有兴趣。）

我们再来看一个小对话：

A: Todd is not a sugar daddy! （Todd是一个甜爸。）

B: Sure, he treats me to dinner and takes me on vacations now and then, but I pay my own way in life!（当然了，他请我吃饭而且不时地带我去度假旅行，但是我在生活上是自己付钱的。）

要点解:1：treat sb. to dinner的意思是“请某人吃晚餐”。例如：He will treat us to dinner this Friday.（本星期五他要请我们吃饭。）

要点解析2：take sb. on a vacation的意思是“带某人去旅行度假”。例如：Two parents take their son on a vacation and go to a nude beach.（父母亲带著儿子到天体营海滩度假。）

要点解析3: now and then的意思是“有时，偶尔，时不时”。例如：Now and then he thought of the future with panic.（他时不时恐慌地想到以后的事情。）He stops now and then as though disturbed by pain.（他时而停下，好象为疼痛所扰。）

要点解析4：pay one's own way表示“自己付自己的钱，各付各的钱”的意思。例如：Each of you had to pay your own way on the trip.（旅行中，你们必须各人负担自己的费用。）Some people prefer to pay their own way so that they don't feel indebted. （有些人宁可付自己的那份钱，这样就不会感到欠人情债了。）
