下面，我们再来看2个小对话，来进一步学习strike out的运用：

Dialogue 1:

A : Did Nancy agree to go out with you. （Nancy答应和你约会了吗？）B: No, I struck out. （没有，我彻底没戏了。）
Ps : go out with sb. 在口语表示“与......约会”。

Dialogue 2:

A: Did you ask Ann out on a date?（你叫Ann出去约会了吗？）

B: Yes, but I struck out. She said no. （约了，但是我没戏了，她没答应。）

Ps : ask sb. On a date的意思是“叫某人出去约会”。Say no的意思是“拒绝，没答应”。

Strike out作为“砸锅，失败”这个意思解释时，是非正式书面用语。我们用标准英语来如何说这句话：Usually you strike out after using one of your stupid pick-up lines! 我们可以用fail来进行替换，即：Usually you fail after using one of your stupid lines.
