Jasper White is one of those rare people who believes in ancient myths. He has just boughta new house in the city, but ever since he moved in, he has had trouble with cars and their owners. When he returns home at night, he always finds that someone has parked a caroutside his gate. Because of this, he has not been able to get his own car into his garage even once. Jasper has put up 'No Parking' signs outside his gate, but these have not had any effect. Now he has put an ugly stone head over the gate. It is one of the ugliestfaces I have ever seen. I asked him what it was and he told me that it was Medusa, the Gorgon. Jasper hopes that she will turn cars and their owners to stone. But none of them has been turned to stone yet!

关系代词：在从句中一定要做成分，做主语或者宾语。
关系副词：在从句中只能做状语。
关系代词与定语从句

第一步：会合成

1）who, whom, that
第一句：He is the boss.
第二句：The boss wants to see you. 　
他就是 （想要见你的）那个老板。　
定语从句：He is the boss (who wants to see you).

2) Whose 用来指人或物，(只用作定语, 若指物，它还可以同of which互换), 例如：　
第一句：They rushed over to help the man.
第二句：His car had broken down.
定语从句：They rushed over to help the man whose car had broken down.

3）which, that　　　
第一句：A prosperity appears in the countryside.
第二句：The prosperity had never been seen before.
定语从句：A prosperity which / that had never been seen before appears in the countryside. 农村出现了前所未 有的繁荣。　
被修饰的名词——先行词（被修饰的名词或代词）
连接词（替换词）——关系词

第二步：分析关系词做什么成分。（主语or宾语）

第三步：划分主从句（如何找到定语从句）

1）从关系词that/which/who/whom/whose 前面画一个括号。
2）跨过定语从句中的谓语动词，第二个谓语动词之前断开括回。

关系副词引导的定语从句

1）when, where, why
关系副词when, where, why的含义相当于"介词+ which"结构，因此常常和"介词+ which"结构交替使用，例如：　
第一句：Beijing is a place 北京是一个地方。
第二句：I was born in Beijing.
定语从句：Beijing is the place where (in which) I was born. 北京是我的出生地。
判断关系代词与关系副词
方法： 用关系代词，还是关系副词完全取决于从句中的谓语动词。及物动词后面无宾语，就必须要 求用关系代词。例如：
（错） This is the mountain village where I visited last year.
（错） This is the mountain village （where I visited last year.）
（错） I will never forget the days （when I spent in the countryside.）
（对） This is the mountain village (which/that) I visited last year.
（对） I'll never forget the days (which/that) I spent in the countryside.

2. He has just bought a new house in the city, but ever since he moved in, he has had trouble with cars and their owners.

1)复习完成时：has bought
备注：He has just had this new house for 5 years.
2)ever since + 过去时间＋ 完成时
例句：Ever since I broke up with my girlfriend, I’ve been living a happy life. 自从我和我女朋友分手之后，我过的很开心。

3.When he returns home at night, he always finds that someone has parked a car

outside his gate. Because of this, he has not been able to get his own car into his garage even once.

1)When he returns home at night
第一：when 引导的时间状语从句；
第二：return home 回家；get home 到家；return one’s call 回复某人的电话
例句：When you get home, give me a message. 你到家之后，给我发个消息。
第三：at night/in the evening
2)he always finds that someone has parked a car outside his gate
知识点：find (that someone has parked a car outside his gate) 括号宾语从句
备注：及物动词 ＋ 句子
3）Because of this, he has not been able to get his own car into his garage even once.
知识点：because of + 名词或短语，不能加句子。

4.Jasper has put up 'No Parking' signs outside his gate, but these have not had any effect. Now he has put an ugly stone head over the gate.

第一：put up a tent
复习：put off 推迟／put away 放起来，收好／put on 穿上／stay put 呆着别动／put 表述。表达
第二：but 转折。
