文章讲解

Our dog, Rex, used to sit outside our front gate and bark. Every time he wanted to come into the garden he would bark until someone opened the gate. As the neighbours complained of the noise, my husband spent weeks training him to press his paw on the latch to let himself in. Rex soon became an expert at opening the gate. However, when I was going out shopping last week, I noticed him in the garden near the gate. This time he was barking so that someone would let him out! Since then, he has developed another bad habit. As soon as he opens the gate from the outside, he comes into the garden and waits until the gate shuts. Then he sits and barks until someone lets him out. After this he immediately lets himself in and begins barking again. Yesterday my husband removed the gate and Rex got so annoyed we have not seen him since.

Life: What is the sweetest thing that someone has ever said to you?

My mother - two hours before she passed away...
I had just gotten home after a long day at school.
I would usually go to my room, put on some music, get in the shower and change into fresh clothes.
Usually taking an hour or two just unwinding from a long day before eating something.
This day was different.
As I came home my mom was sitting on the dinner table...
As I was about to go to my room, my mom called me and asked me how my day went.
I said it went well... And turned to go to my room.
She called me again... There was something in her voice that made me stop.
She wasn't ill, she didn't have any disease, she wasn't old either. She was only 48... But I think she knew that her time had come.
I think she knew intuitively.
She stopped me before I left the room and said, "Come eat with me - you never know when you will eat with me again. I may not be here tomorrow."
I wanted to say, "MOM!!! Don't be like that... You'll be here tomorrow..."
But it was in her voice...
The way she said it...
I sat down, held on to her hand and ate with her.
That simple sentence, "Come eat with me - you never know when you will eat with me again. I may not be here tomorrow."
It reminds me everyday of the fragility of life.
It reminds me to cherish every moment I have with friends, family, loved ones.
It reminds me to live today like it is my last day. And love - like it is my last day.
"I may not be here tomorrow."
A few hours later my mother had a silent heart attack. She didn't realise what was happening to her. And before we could get her to the hospital she passed away.
I knew she'd gone, even before we carried her to the car.
Bless her. She taught me the most important lesson of my life, even as she was about to leave me forever.
Spend a moment of tender love and kindness with the ones you love today - for they may not be here tomorrow.
