Foregone，的意思是先前的、预知的，而conclusion，结果。Foregone conclusion， 意思就是"注定的结果， 不可避免的结果"。

例句-1：Susanna had worked as the assistant manager in the store for three years. When the boss decided to take a job with another company, most of us assumed Susanna would be getting a promotion.
