As you would expect, different languages have different words for colors. But what interests researchers isn't those simple translations, it's the question of which colors get names at all. Because as much as we think of colors in categories, the truth is that color is a spectrum. It's not obvious why we should have a basic color term for this color, but not this one.
可想而知,不同的语言有不同的“颜色”用词。但是学者所感兴趣的并不是那些字面上的单纯翻译词,而是究竟哪些颜色该被命名。因为尽管我们总认为颜色分成多种类别,但它实则是一个光谱。我们很难去解释究竟为何我们应该为这个颜色命名,而非那个颜色。
