Michael: Thanks for sitting down with me, Kate.
Kate: Sure thing. Tell me, why do you think you deserve a raise?
Michael: Well, first, I've met all of my performance goals for the past two quarters, and even exceeded them last quarter by more than ten percent.
Kate: That's pretty good. The company doesn't have a lot of extra money to throw around right now though.
Michael: I understand that, but I was hired with the promise that I would get a significant pay raise after six months. I've been here over a year now and have only gotten a very slight increase.
Kate: Alright. You're a good salesman and I want to keep you. You'll get a raise as soon as I talk to accounting.
