Lesson 19 Key Conversation Welcome to the Team

Jonathan: Everyone, I would like you to welcome Mr. Chan. He is the visiting representative from our new factory in Cambodia.

Chan: Thank you, Jonathan. Because of the hostilities between our two nations in the past, it has been difficult to strike an accord or to do business with one another.

Jonathan: Yes, that is until recently. Thank goodness.

Chan: My feelings exactly. The problem with governments is that they are just in it for themselves. Meanwhile, the common people want to do business and live our lives.

Jonathan: And is that the reason you have sought partnership with our company?

Chan: It is. In fact, I think it's in everyone's best interests that we cooperate with one another. Each of us has resources that could help everyone else grow.

Jonathan: Well then, on behalf of our offices here, we welcome you to our international team.

Chan: Thank you. I expect that this will be a profitable relationship for everyone involved.
