Automaker FAW - Volkswagen has become the target of envy as news spread online of the company's plans to give out year-end bonuses equaling 27 months of salaries, Guangzhou Daily reported Thursday.

据广州日报周四报道，网上一条一汽大众将发放相当于27个月工资的年终奖，招来一片“羡慕嫉妒恨”。

“年终奖”的英文是year-end bonus，文中的year-end bonuses是其复数形式。FAW的全称是First Automobile Workshop，即“第一汽车制造厂”；Volkswagen是德国的汽车品牌大众，其缩写为VW。

The company confirmed the news but said it was not that much as they based the bonus on the basic salary, which is 3,000 yuan ($466) per month. Basic salary accounts for one-third of the total payroll for the company, the report said.

一汽大众证实了该条消息，但是称是以3000元(466美元)的月基本工资作为奖金发放的基数，所以实际并没有那么多。报道称，一汽大众公司员工的基本工资占工资总额的三分之一。

Payroll是公司支付给员工的工资总额，员工工资总额一般由basic salary（基本工资）和bonus（奖金）组成。
