首先，回答Edward同学的提问，如何表达“下岗了”，to get laid off:
My friend got laid off last week due to frequent sickness. 我的朋友上个星期下岗了，因为他老生病。
Come to office on time, otherwise you'll get laid off pretty soon.　按时来办公室，否则你很快就会下岗。
Many workers got laid off resulting from the economic recession.　经济萧条使得很多工人下岗了。
下面，讲讲“把某事提前到某个时间”的表达法：bring … forward to… ，在“to”的后面，放上具体提前到的某个日期：
Shall we bring our marketing review forward to this month? 我们是不是该把市场回顾一事提前到这个月？
Let's bring our meeting forward to tomorrow. 让我们把双方的会晤提前到明天吧。
So I was wondering, rather than delaying things any longer, could we bring everything forward to the 14th? 因此我想，为了不让事情一拖再拖，还不如我们提前到14号。
I'd like to bring the final exam forward to this Friday. 我想把期末考试提前到这个星期五。
Can you bring our coffee date forward to 6 pm? 你能把我们的咖啡约会提前到6点吗？
