3.I have no income and I have to pay my tuition. I am the poorest of the poor. 我没有收入,还得付学费.我是穷人里面最穷的.
有时候我们要表达自己很穷，好像除了讲 very poor 之外没有其它任何的选择，不像在中文里还有什么三餐不济、穷愁潦倒之类的成语。但事实上，像是 poorest of the poor 就是一个不错的用法，可以用来强调 "不但很穷，而且还是穷人里面最穷的"。比方说，"I would like to donate some money to the poorest of the poor. (我想捐点钱给那些最穷的人。)"
跟 poorest of the poor 遥相呼应的则是 richest of the rich，看字面上的意思就知道这是指有钱人里面最有钱的一群。比方说 "There is no question that my boss is the richest of the rich. (豪无疑问的，我的老板肯定是有钱人里面最有钱的。)" 像著名的福布斯 (Forbes) 杂志的富人排行榜，用的标题就是 The richest of the rich。
