徐渭（1521-1593）字文长，号天池，晚号青藤道人，浙江山阴人。嘉靖三十七年（一五五八）曾入闽督胡宗宪幕府，又曾因行迹狂异入狱。晚年著书鬻画为生。山水、人物、花虫、竹石，无不精擅，尝自评：吾书第一，诗二，文三，画四。

东吴药绢白濛濛，况值胶矾盏内空。
烂颖扫来孤凤影，江湘细雨淡烟中。

dull and damp,
and too the pot
is bare
of sizing
but when my brush

on the Hsiang Chiang River
