一、数字的译法

英语和汉语对数字的表达法在千位数以下基本相同，但超过万的数字，无论从英语译到汉语， 还是从汉语译到英语，都常常会碰到麻烦。因此，在口译中，要特别注意英汉两种语言数字表达的差异。掌握数词口译的基本技巧，首先要熟悉英语数词的基本读法，读得要准要快。同时，还要善 于发现规律，找窍门。

汉语：数字是以“十”的倍数来表达。

英语：
1) 数字超过千以后，以“千”的倍数来表达。 如：一万是“十千”(ten thousand)，十万是“百千”(hundred thousand)。
2) 数字超过百万(million)以后，则用“百万”的倍数来表达。 如：千万是“十百 万”(ten million)， 亿是“百百万”(hundred million)。
3)数字超过十亿(billion)以后，则用“十亿”的倍数来表达。如：百亿是“十十亿”(ten billion)，千亿是“百十亿”(hundred billion)。
4)万亿trillion

1、 目的：口译中遇到数字，能进行中英文熟练转换。
2、 方法：
1）听数字，即笔记
ten thousand 10th 或 10’
hundred thousand 100th
one million 1m或 1’’
ten million 10m
one hundred million 100 m
one billion 1b或 1’’’
ten billion 10b
one hundred billion 100 b
one trillion 1tr或 1’’’’
2）如果预先知道某次会议会出现一系列数字，也可以画表如下，听到数字时，迅速填入表内。
3、 要求：记下数字本身、数字的单位及数字所修饰的词 例如：17万公里的公路
4、 示范：上海世博会 “中国北京国际科技产业博览会”简介

四、翻译技巧

1、 省略

世博会将为1.3亿中国人民打开交接世界的窗户，也会为外国人了解中国历史和文化成就提供机会。
World Expo will open a window to the 1.3 billion Chinese people to see the outside world as well as on opportunity for foreigners to learn about Chinese history, culture and achievements.

2、 词性转换

动词词组转化为名词词组

世博会占地2260公顷，将成为重环保、服务设施完善、旅游资源丰富的都市区域。
Covering an area of 2260 hectares, the site will be developed into an environmental friendly district with flourishing service and tourism industries.
（同时运用句子成分转换技巧：原文主语“世博会”在译文中被转化为”the site”）
