test4/14-18是一组有选项的summary。首先，要了解这种题目的特点：同义变换的程度很大，大到有时要填的那个选项在文章根本找不到同义词或近义词，而是需要看懂某些语句的意思才能做对，所以难度还是很大。
　　我在课堂上主张学生可以通过语法和词汇知道先猜一下哪几个答案可能正确，然后再结合文章中的内容答题，这样效果和正确率很高很多。那么下面我们就按这方法过一遍。
　　首先，14题。
　　The Nicaraguan National Literacy Crusade aimed to teach large numbers of illiterate ____ to read and write.
　　很明显，空格里应该填的是人，所以答案只有两个可能的：B. men and women 和 G. adults and children
　　15题。
　　Public health experts have known for many years that there is a connection between child health and _____.
　　很明显，空格内填和child health有关的因素，所以答案集中在: A. child literacy(这个是保守猜法，其实这个答案是很容易排除的);F. maternal literacy; H paternal literacy(我们不能重女轻男是吧，这个答案理论上也是可能的，但是等会看了文章后，轻易的也能排除);J. family wealth(钱还是很重要的，所以这个选项也有可能)
　　16题。

　　这题猜起来也很容易，肯定是某位专家或组织，所以答案集中在C. an international research team和I. a National Literacy Crusade
　　17题。

　　此题意思大致为，经过调查，发现哪些因素(与child health)已经排除了。这题猜起来似乎范围有点大，主要有这么几个：A. child literacy; D. medical care ; F. maternal literacy; H. paternal literacy(这个答案其实是不可能的，因为这里在研究的问题是child health和literate mothers之间到底有没有联系，和父亲是没有任何关系的，所以水平高的人直接可以把这个答案排除); J. family wealth。虽然乍看之下，觉得猜了没有意义，其实，看了这几个选项，可以对答案的大致方向有个概念了，等会定位就容易了。
18题。
　　and it has been shown that ______ can in itself improve infant health and survival.
　　此题选项范围和17题大致相同，因为现在看下来，肯定是这几个选项内有的和child health有联系，有的没有联系。in other words，17和18是同一屋檐下的。
　　好了，猜完了，我们可以开始根据关键词以及句子的大致意思开始定位了。
　　14 题比较容易，因为有Nicaraguan National Literacy Crusade，所以定位在P90第一段第一行开始到第三行，其中...For those women who learnt to read through the campaign,...可以看出，只能选B
　　15题也不难，根据顺序原则往下找，发现第一段的最后一句话，或者第二段的第一句话都说的很明显，...newly-literate mothers...所以答案是F
　　16 题也很容易，根据顺序原则往下找，第二段第2行到第4行，其中有... so he and his colleagues are looking at other factors。he 这里指的是上文中的Peter Sandifor of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine,所以答案只能选C
　　17题有些难，乍看之下似乎难以定位。这题充分反映了学生的liguistic sensibility(对语言的敏感度，达到一定的水平才有此境界)。主要看第2段的第四行开始，They are working with the same group of 3,000 women, to try to find out whether reading mohters make better use of hospitals and clinics, opt for smaller families, exert more conrol at home, learn modern childcare techniques more quickly, or whether they merely have more respect for themselves and their children.其实黑体部分就是研究人员觉得可能的因素，那么哪个因素没有提及呢?!换句话说，选项里没有提及的那个就是已经被eliminated 的因素，所以答案选的是J
　　最后18题。
　　这题其实也不难，第3段，第2行开始，Sandifor says that there is increasing evidence that female education, at any age, is 'an important health intervention in its own right.'所以答案选F
　　注意，在instructions里题目已经明确指出，NB you may use any letter more than once。一般这就说明，一定有个答案会使用两次。
