Two Dream Spinners

We spin webs of dreams,
My friend and I,
Castles in faraway countries,
Turrets stretching into the sunrise.
In our fevered imaginations
Orchestras play,
As honey-golden sunshine seeps
through the blinds.
Laughs fly from our mouths like startled birds,
And our hands weave bright patterns
in the air
As we gesture and explain,
Looking curiously, with a mix of wonder and fear,
Into each other’s eyes,
And delighting in the bright jewels we
find there,
In each other’s minds.
And when we are apart, our letters fly,
Like fat white birds
Across the countryside.
