Where salt is from
We can’t live without salt. We need salt in our food. Without enough salt in the food, we will get ill. Animals need salt, too. They need salt to grow strong and fast.
Most of the salt in our country comes from the sea. People dig very big pools and let seawater
in. When the sun dries up the water, people can get salt from the ground.
There are a lot of salt wells in Sichuan, China. A salt well is much like a water well. People bring the well water up to the ground and then dry it in big jars(罐) over fire. In this way, they can get salt.
We can also get salt from salt mines(矿). A salt mine may be found under the ground. Some years ago, people in Jiangxi found a big salt mine and soon opened it. People there don’t need salt from other places any more.
Another way to get salt is from salt lakes. Some of these lakes are very big in the northwest of our country, The salt in a big lake will be enough for all the people in our country for hundreds of years.
根据短文内容,简答下面的问题。

Passage 6
Chinese value(价值观) and American value
As a Chinese-American student, I have much to say about the value differences between the two countries.
American kids love to make money by themselves. Chinese kids always ask money from their parents. So American kids spend more money than they have, but Chinese kids spend less money and they have money left in the bank.
American parents think going to an expensive and famous college is not useful. Chinese parents would do anything to send their children to good colleges even if it means that they have to sell everything they have.
American parents allow their daughters or sons to go out with their friends if they come back home at the right time. Chinese students aren’t allowed to do so in middle or high school.
American parents support and encourage their children all the time while Chinese parents
think that criticism(批评) is the best love in the world. So American parents only look at their children’s good side. Chinese parents seem to only see their children’s bad side.
I don’t want to say which culture is better because both cultures have their pros and cons.
