lect 表示“说”或“选择”
lecture n. 演讲；训诫 v. 发表演讲；训诫
[记]你阿姨(u-r-e)在不停说(lect），那是在训诫你, 她自以为在发表一个演讲(lecture)。
[例]In SS's lectures, he often lectures about his experience of learning English and seldom lectures
students．在思思的演讲里，他常常讲到自己学英语的经历，并且很少训诫学生该做什么。
dialect n. 方言
[记]嗲嗲(dia-)说(lect)的话，就是方言(dialect)。“嗲嗲”就是“爷爷”，比如“毛爷爷”就叫“毛嗲嗲”。
[另]这里dia-读音发的是“带儿”而不是“嗲”，那只是好理解好记住意思。带儿子长大的祖父母，一般都说家乡的dialect。
collect vt. 收集；募捐 vi. 收集，聚集
[记]把选择(1ect)好的东西放到一起(col-)，就是在collect。收集的东西越来越多时，那个东西就在聚集、增多。
[串]收集大家的钱就是在募捐。

collective a. 集体的；共同的；集体主义的
[记]collect-收集；-ive很。很喜欢收集东西，是小时候我们集体的、共有的(collective)爱好。有集体主义的人都会为了这个集体收集需要的东西。

[变] collectivism n. 集体主义（-ism是“主义”）collectivist n．集体主义者（-ist是“人”）
[例]The nature is our collective asset（财产），and we should intensify our efforts lo protect if．大自然是我们的共同财产，我们要加强保护它的努力。
recollect v. 回忆；想起
[记]重新( re-）收集(collect)那些记忆、过去。
[例]I try to recollect what happened last night but my effort is in vain because I drank too much．我努力回想昨晚发生的事，但是因为喝太多，什么也想不起来了。
elect v. 选举；选择 n. 被选出来的人（the elect）
[记]lect-还表示“选择”，e-往外。选一个人出来，在竞选。
[变]election n．选举elective a. 选举的；选修的 n. 选修课(-ive可以表示形容词和名词)
[例]Many freshmen and sophomore students elect to postpone some electives to their junior and senior years so that they can enjoy the campus life of dating and watching videos all day long.大一和大二新生常常选择把很多选修课推到大三和大四上，这样他们就可以享受整天恋爱和看视频的大学生活。
select vt. 挑选；精选 a. 精选出来的；优质的
[记]SS(s)在选择(elect)，肯定在精选(select)，选出来的东西肯定都是优质的。
[变]selection n. 精选；精选出来的东西；精选集 selective a. 选择性的

[例]SS always selects garments with select materials.思思大王总是会精心挑选一些质料上乘的衣服。
neglect v. 忽视；疏忽 n. 忽视
[记]neg-否定，不好的东西。前面讲过negative[你哥踢我]，叫做消极的；-lect选。不好(neg)的东西就不去选(lect)，要忽视它（neglect）。
[例] We can never neglect the value of vocabulary．我们绝对不能忽略单词的价值。
ignore v. 忽视
[记]一个哥哥(i-g)没有(no)看到那个阿姨(r-e)，把她忽视了。
[辨] ignore和neglect作为忽视时的区别虽然很微小，但是很容易理解：ignore是指主观上有意不理睬，因为开头是i，表示我，我是主动地；而neglect指不是故意地忽略，因为开头是ne-，读“你”。是你的太平凡，不是我故意不理你。
[例]We should not ignore the fact that the internet in the meantime negatively affects our communication.我们不应忽略一个事实，即互联网同时负面地影响了我们的交流。（that前面那半句在写作中可以用来引出一个事实。）
ignorant a. 不知道的，无知的
[记]ignor-忽视：-ant形容词。忽视掉了一切，就是一个无知的人。
[另]一个(ig)不知道(no)跑步的（ran-t)人，该多无知(ignorant)。
[注]重音在第一音节。
[变]ignorance n．无知；愚昧(t-ce的变化，“踢死”组合。）
[例]The ignorant are always ignorant of their ignorance.无知的人从来不知道自己无知。(the+a．表示一类人，比如the poor是“穷人”。)
overlook v. 俯视；忽视
[记]在高(over)看(look)，就是俯视；俯视的时候，底下的某些小细节容易被忽视(overlooked)。
[例]He reviewed his report again and again for fear of overlooking important details．他一遍遍检查着自己的报告，生怕漏掉了重要的细节。
