Israel launched airstrikes on Gaza late Thursday, for the second time since a ceases-fire ended the war with Hamas militants last month. The strikes came after incendiary balloons were launched from Gaza into Israel for a third straight day.
A tropical storm warning has been issued for parts of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. A potential tropical cyclone could bring heavy rain and flooding to the Gulf Coast on Friday.
North Carolina authorities say three people who were floating in a river on inflatable tubes are dead after they went over a dam. Crews were still searching for two more people late Thursday.
