A cable car taking visitors to a mountaintop view of some of northern Italy's most picturesque lakes plummeted to the ground Sunday before tumbling down a slope, leaving 14 people dead. A young child was also hospitalized in serious condition with broken bones.
State police in New Jersey say at least two people were killed and 12 others were wounded in a shooting at a house party. New Jersey State Police said a 30-year-old man and a 25-year-old-woman were fatally shot. The 12 others injured were transported to local hospitals.
George Floyd's brother, Terrence, attended a Brooklyn gathering in his brother's memory organized by the Rev. Al Sharpton Sunday ahead of the anniversary of Floyd's death. Terrence Floyd told supporters not to forget his brother or other victims of racist violence, and to "stay woke" about the continued work needed ahead.
Officials and survivors say the volcanic eruption in Congo and the ensuing chaos have killed at least 15 people and that more than 500 homes have been destroyed. More than 170 children were still feared missing.
