President Joe Biden is set to meet with a group of 10 Republican senators who've proposed $618 billion in coronavirus aid. That's about a third of what he's seeking. The Republicans propose slimmer benefits, including $1,000 in direct payments to individuals earning up to $40,000 a year, or $80,000 for couples.
The latest winter storm to wallop the Northeast shut down vaccination sites and snarled other pandemic-related services in many states that could see as much as a foot of snow by this evening. A nor'easter developing off the mid-Atlantic coast is expected to bring heavy snow and strong winds through tomorrow.
And a four-year effort to modernize the International Space Station's power grid is finally wrapping up. A pair of NASA astronauts ventured out on a spacewalk Monday to install the last battery component. It's the second spacewalk in five days for Mike Hopkins and Victor Glover.
