Police in Hong Kong now have new powers to implement measures under Article 43 of the region's new National Security Law. These include search of place for evidence and restriction on persons under investigation from leaving Hong Kong. Article 43 also authorizes the chief executive and the National Security Committee to make implementation rules to apply the measures. A statement by the Hong Kong government says the implementation rules are to ensure protection of various rights and freedom in accordance with the law can be complied with
