The Chinese Ministry of Education says an annual national college entrance examination, or the gaokao, will be postponed for one month. The exam usually takes place in June but will happen on July the 7th and the 8th this year. The ministry says Beijing and Hubei Province can propose their own dates, based on their Disease Control and Prevention conditions. The exact dates will be announced after the ministry is approval. And this year over 10 million students are expected to take part in the Gaokao.
We have followed three prerequisites for opening schools. They are to have the outbreak under control to have response measures in place and to ensure the health and safety of the students. At the same time, we are guarding against the risk of imported cases. The schools and education administrations are requested to get prepared for potential outbreaks and to report them in a timely manner.
