It seems the whole world is afraid of getting sick and for many in Italy it's more than just fear. Nearly 700 more deaths today, the total number of infected is about as high as China reported at its peak. I spoke to the head of an ICU who says with 20% of his doctors out sick and new cases flooding in the only way to stay afloat is to abandon existing protocols.
What advice would you give to American doctors? You cannot face a unconventional scenarios with routine tools. You have to reimagine, to reshape the hospital, the daily practice and the the protocols and to be very flexible and to have a scalable strategy. Spain isn't far behind Italy and the U.S. is catching up.
